Week #104

Hey Mis!
Sorry I don't have much time this week, but it was pretty uneventful. We found some more people to teach, but none of them were able to come to church :/ I've been shedding some of my stuff that I don't need in preparing for packing. Elder Hodge and I still get along pretty well, which I'm happy about! Sorry this is the most uneventful email ever.

Have a great week!

Week #103

Hey Mis!

I'm excited to come home soon! My week was pretty good. We had zone conference and interviews with our mission president! It was interesting! They had us be in charge of setting it up and conducting, instead of the APs, so it was definitely more busy haha. But it went pretty well.

Our interviews afterwards were pretty fun. I got to talk with President Youngblood a little more, it was awesome. He reminds me a lot of President Beck. Same sense of humor, pretty calm guy. He'll be great for the mission!

I went on exchange with Elder Hills this week. He goes home with me too. He's been checked out of the building for a while, so the exchange wasn't too eventful. It was the first time I had been to Boulder City though, so that was pretty cool. It would be a pretty fun area if you're working haha.

Elder Hodge had a good exchange with Elder Hills' companion though, so it was worth it. Elder Hodge and I had a great lesson with a guy named Chewy! He's had a tough life, but he's really trying to change. He's getting baptized October 14th, we're excited!!

Have a great week!

Week #102

Hey Mis!

I don't have too much time, but here's a quick update:

We had an interesting week. We had MLC on Wednesday with President Youngblood. It was pretty interesting. He pushed Preach My Gospel and the Book of Mormon a lot, it was pretty cool.

I also had an exchange with Elder Wardell again. He came to our area, and we had a temple tour with the Allen family! It was pretty spiritual. It was a little warm, but it was still a lot of fun. They came to church too, they're making great progress!
I also exchanged with Elder Houssian, from Texas. He started his mission the same time as Elder Cook and Elder Rigby, two of my previous companions. He's a pretty cool guy. We had some sweet lessons in his area.

Sunday was super busy. We had church, and then we were in charge of setting up the Why I Believe fireside, where recent converts share their conversion story. One of the people I taught in South Valley Ranch spoke, it was really awesome! After we locked up the door and everything, it was about 8pm. I got to where a suit almost all day between ward council, church, and Why I Believe haha. It was hot.

Have a great week!

Week #101

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a fun time in Utah. I hope you drive safely! As for my week, it was great! I love Elder Hodge. He's from Virginia, 45 minutes outside of DC. He's been out 11 months. I exchanged with him when he came in and I was his ZL, and now I'm his ZL companion.Haha. It's pretty cool.

We saw some sweet miracles this week. We got back in contact with Leonard and Trinity, and we had a great lesson with them! We also met with the Allen family and set up a temple walk for this coming week. We also were walking around a complex and we saw a less-active member trying to move, so we stopped by and helped them
load the truck. They're moving within ward boundaries, and we're starting to teach her kids now! So we're pumped.

I also got to attend Brian Merrill's baptism. It was fun. Elder Dodge and I were asked to give a joint talk at the baptism, which I had never done before. It was cool haha.

Have a great week!

Week #100

Hey Mis!

Bummer that your week was boring! At least nothing bad happened haha. And yeah it was fun to see Asia! She talked about possibly doing it, but I didn't know that she actually would!

As for my week, it was pretty cool. We had Camp PMG, where priests and laurels from the Lake Mead Stake get assigned to companionships to proselyte with them for the whole day. We had a 16 year old named Colton, he was a pretty cool kid.

We also received our transfer calls. I'm staying in Arrowhead and will be getting Elder Hodge! He's awesome. He was in my zone when I served by the Strip, he's a great guy! I'll be training him as a ZL, so it'll be the fourth guy I've ZL-trained. I'm really excited. Our transfer days got bumped to Wednesday, so I'll have one more day with Elder Shiffler tomorrow, and then it'll be my last transfer. It's crazy how much time has gone by!

I also got to attend a baptism in my last area for Alicia and Steven. It was cool to get to see them and watch their baptism!

Have a great week!

Week #99

Hey Mis!

Sorry this email will be super short, but we're touring the Hoover Dam today! So it's going to take up most of Pday haha. Sounds like you had a great week though!

I had a pretty good week. I went on exchange with Elder Wardell, one of the Spanish missionaries. He's a pretty chill guy from Wyoming. He's been out 5 months. We had some great lessons and found more people to teach! I also had my first interview with President Youngblood. He's a pretty lax guy, it was an interesting interview. We were able to have a lesson with a guy named Leonard and his family. He has three kids still at home, and he's engaged. His fiancée is a member. We had a super spiritual lesson, and Leonard and the kids are getting baptized Sep. 9th! We're pretty pumped.

That was pretty much my week! Sorry for the short letter. We receive transfer calls this week, it'll be interesting to see where I go or if I stay! Have a great week!

Week #98

Hey Mis!

Sounds like things are going well back home. That's cool you guys got to honor Mom's birthday! I bought a Slurpee the day before in her honor haha.

Our week was pretty good. We had zone conference! So I got to see Elder Aitchison and Elder Williams, because they're in neighboring zones. It was pretty cool. I definitely learned a lot from President Youngblood too, he's going to be really good for the mission. I also got to exchange with Elder Brady in his area. He's been out a little less than a year, from Tucson, AZ. He's a really good guy, and we found some cool people to teach that day! Elder Shiffler and I had a cool lesson with a part-member family named the Allens. They're awesome! We had a pretty spiritual lesson, and they all came to church! Which was really awesome to see!

Sorry it's kind of a shorter email, but I hope everything is going well! Have a great week!

Week #97

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a pretty chill week! I heard about the homerun derby and the All Star Game, that sounds fun! And I've heard good things about Spider-Man too.

My week was pretty good! We had our first MLC with our new prez, President Youngblood! It was really good, I enjoyed it a lot. I also went on exchange with Elder Foiles this week, one of the APs, in his area. It was a good exchange. We talked a lot about the zone's needs because it's struggling. We had a good day proselyting wise, we had some awesome lessons and found some cool people to teach. I also got to drive THE ALTIMA. I know, it doesn't sound like much, but the APs have a 2017 Altima, which is most likely the nicest car in the mission. It's definitely better than the Corollas I've driven for the last 9 months.

Since it was Slurpee day on Tuesday, Elder Shiffler and I hit BOTH 7 Elevens that were in our area. It was pretty fun haha. The work is slowly improving, the ward council gave us a bunch of referrals this week that we're going to hit up. Some people that we've been teaching cut ties, but it's not bothering me, because it means they weren't ready for the gospel!

That was pretty much my week! I'll send pics in a separate email. I hope you have a great week!

Week #96

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a fun week! That's awesome that you got to go to Boston. I hope you had a great holiday!

My week was pretty good! My birthday was fun. We got to meet President Youngblood that day. He's cool! He's really funny, and really humble. His daughter has the same exact birthday as me, even to the year haha.

Some members also invited us to their barbecue for the 4th, and they sang happy birthday and gave me a cake. The Merrills, the family I taught in my last area, also surprised me later that day with some cupcakes and balloons. It was a pretty cool birthday!

I did a couple exchanges this week. First, I was with Elder Malcolm in our area. He's from Idaho, and he's a pretty cool guy. We had a great lesson on the exchange, where we taught a lady named Margo! She's set to be baptized Aug. 12! It was a really spiritual lesson and exchange.

I also did an exchange with Elder Hills. He's from Texas, and he came out with me. It was definitely an interesting exchange. I didn't know him very well, so getting to know him was interesting. We saw some cool miracles on our exchange with the people that we found to teach!

Have a great week!

Week #95

Hey Mis!

Sounds like you had a fun time with all your travels. I bet you're exhausted haha. I hope you and the family enjoy the 4th!

My week was pretty good. I got to do an exchange with Elder Owens in his area. It was a pretty fun exchange! He was in Parker when I was in Lake Havasu, so we did some exchanges then. He's been doing pretty well! It was fun to exchange with him again.

It was kind of sad this week though, cuz President and Sister Snow finished and went home. I got to see them a few days before they left, but it was still pretty sad. We're meeting President and Sister Youngblood tomorrow though, so it'll be fun to meet them!

As for the rest of my week, we had some pretty good lessons. We met a lady named Margo who used to be taught by missionaries in the past. It was a pretty spiritual lesson!

We also got to me the Tedesco family, a mother and her 17 year old son. They're pretty cool too! This area is still a little dry, but we're slowly but surely building it back up. Same with the zone too. But things are definitely getting better! I hope you have a great week!

Week #94

Hey Mis!

That sounds like a super fun week! I'm glad you were able to visit your mission! That's awesome. It sounds like the rest of your touring was pretty fun too, that's good to hear!

My week was busy! I'm in the Arrowhead Ward, in the Eldorado Stake. It's a little bit south of my last area. It's pretty cool! I already like the members there, and there's a lot of housing areas and complexes too. Elder Shiffler is pretty cool. He's from Walla Walla, Washington. He's been out a transfer less than me. He's really into computers and technology, and he's pretty good at it. The area is kinda dry right now, so it seems like we're starting from scratch. But that's okay! It'll be a good challenge.

We found some pretty cool people this week, one's name was Willie. He's pretty cool, but he works a TON! He does Events and stuff on the Strip, he's in charge of coordinating parking and stuff like that. Poor guy haha. He was pretty chill though. It's kind of funny cuz my MTC companion, Elder Aitchison, used to serve here, so I've heard some funny stories about him haha. The zone is on the uprise again, so I'm excited to help it build up!

I hope you have a great week!

Week #93

Hey Mis,

Sounds like your rip has been super fun! My week was pretty good! Summer and Sky got baptized!!! Which was awesome. And the father of the family, Brian, attended too! It was awesome! We also received our transfer calls this week, and.... I'm leaving. I'm going to the Eldorado Stake, Arrowhead Ward. Still a zone leader as well. It'll be interesting being in zone #4, but it'll be fun! I'm getting Elder Shiffler. I've heard good things about him, so I'm pretty excited! Sorry I don't have much time today. But I hope you have a great week!

Week #92

Hey Mis!

No, I don't have my travel plans yet haha. And yeah, just three more months! It's crazy, it has definitely flown by. It seems like you've had a lot of fun studying abroad! That's really cool you get to go back to Armenia for a little bit, that's fun!

I had a pretty good week. I had a BUNCH of exchanges. I was first with Elder Shepherd in his area, which is a YSA ward. He goes home in a few weeks, but he still works super hard! We had some good lessons. He covers the whole Green Valley stake. We went into a complex where a family called the Batemans live. Elder Shepherd and I served in Castle Ridge about 4 months apart from each other, and we both taught the Batemans, so we stopped by because we were in the area. It was so cool to visit with them! Jennifer, who is the grandmother, is still being taught, so it was really cool to get to see her!

I also went on exchange with Elder Loutzenhiser. He also goes home in a few weeks, but he still is working hard too! He was in our area, and we had some good lessons and found some cool people to teach. We ate dinner with a part-member family, and we had a great lesson! Their daughter accepted baptism for July 14th! It was awesome.

I also was on exchange with Elder Aquino in my area. He's from the Phillipines, and goes home the same time I do. We met some pretty cool people throughout the day, and had some good talks since I had never really served around him.

I also got to go to the temple this week! Since I'm super close to my old area, I hit up the Van Ordens and asked them to take me. We went Saturday morning, and it was a really cool experience! Afterwards, we met back up with my companion, and they took us to lunch, so I got to visit with them a little bit more. Their son is expecting his mission call soon, it's neat to see the people you take teaching go out on missions. I'm excited to see where he goes!

That was pretty much my week! We should have Summer and Skye get baptized this week! Which I'm super pumped about. We also receive transfer calls this week, so it'll be interesting to see what happens! I hope you have a great week!

Week #91

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a super fun time! I love the pictures! That's cool that you met Sister Dalton, and you got to see the Halls! That's funny that that guy was trying to bash you too haha.

This week was pretty good. I got to do an exchange with Elder Williams from my MTC district! It was super cool to actually get to serve with him. It's fun seeing the progress that we've both made on our missions, I loved it.

The Merrill family that we're teaching is doing really well, they all came to church this Sunday! And the mother and daughter are getting baptized a week from this Saturday. And we also found two part-member families this week that we're teaching as well. I'm super excited for them.

Elder Cook and I are also planning a stake activity called A Night Around the World. We're having 20 or so RMs
who served in foreign countries set up little booths about their missions and the country they served in. I'm pretty excited about it, it should be good!

We also had zone conference this week. It was pretty cool, but also sad. It was President and Sister Snow's last
zone conference tour. But, I definitely learned a lot, and am excited to apply it into the zone!

Have a great week! Bring me back some souvenirs haha.

Week #90

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a blast in Italy. That's super cool you're in Italy. I say that every week, but it's true haha. You go back home in June right? What are the plans after Italy?

I had a pretty good week. We had MLC again with Prez. It was pretty sad, but we're excited for the new president, President Youngblood. I got to see Elder Aitchison again, that was really cool! And Elder Hatch and Elder Ramirez, some of my former companions.

Later on in the week, I got super sick. Like my stomach just turned into a rock. It wasn't good haha, I was out like the whole day. But other than that, we had some more awesome lessons with the Merrills, and with Alicia and her son too! They're all moving along towards their baptisms, I'm super excited!

That was pretty much my week! Nothing else too exciting. I hope you have a great week!

Week #89

Hey Mis!

Italy sounds so fun! I'm jealous. Each week seems super eventful for ya! I love the pictures too.

I had an awesome week! I LOVE Elder Cook. He's super hardworking, I've really enjoyed being his companion so far. We had some really cool lessons this week. The Merrill family wants to get baptized sooner! The Young Women's president is taking them to girls camp this summer, and they're doing a Temple trip at girls camp. So, the Merrills want to go to the temple with them, so they bumped up their baptismal date to June! So we're super excited. We also had an awesome lesson with Alicia. We set a goal for her baptism for Aug. 5th, and she's super excited!! The zone has been doing pretty well too, we've improved a lot this week!
Not much else happened, but it was a pretty good week. Have a great week!

Week #88

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a fun time in Italy! It was great to see you and the whole fam on Mother's Day, even though the wifi was weird at first. I had never Skyped in a Tesla or a bathroom before, so check both of those off the list! Haha. Seems like the family is doing pretty well, that's good to hear!

My week was great! We had a baptism this week!! Jordyn got baptized!!! She invited a ton of friends and family too, which was cool. The YW in the ward sang a special musical number too which was awesome! Also, Summer and Skye, two of the people we're teaching, attended the baptism, and even participated in singing the musical number!! It was awesome. It was funny cuz my old comp, Elder Hatch, taught Jordyn when he was here, so he FaceTimed into the baptism. It was funny though because he didn't FaceTime in until I stood up to be one of the witnesses for the baptism, that's when he called hahaha. That's Elder Hatch for ya, incredible timing haha. He's a goon. The rest of the week was good too. We ate dinner with the stake president, Pres. Hedger, and he came out teaching with us after. He's a really cool guy! I told him how Dad is an attorney, and so we talked about law school and stuff. He thought Dad must've been pretty smart since he went to Cornell for law school, and I told him he couldn't tell if he actually met Dad. 😂😂

Yep, still roastin' Dad, even 2,000+ miles away. We took him to see the Merrills, and it was an awesome lesson! Super spiritual, and Pres. Hedger unleashed some deep knowledge in the lesson. It was super cool. On Sunday, after church Elder Dodge and I were updating some things in our area book and preparing for transfers this week, when I saw two people that looked familiar in the chapel. I looked closer, and it was Bro. and Sis. Van Orden!!! They were like my favorite people I've met on my mission, they were in the Castle Ridge ward. Since I've served there, the wards got realigned, and their new ward meets in the same building as ours!! Haha, it was super cool to see them. Their ward has sisters, so they gave us their son's phone number to get him out teaching with us cuz he doesn't go teaching anymore. So I'm pumped!! Haha. Also, transfers are this week. I'm staying, and getting Elder Cook! He's been out for slightly less than a year. He's coming from Parker, he was one of the DLs when I was a ZL out there. He's a good guy, so I'm pumped!!!

That was pretty much my week. I hope you enjoy Italy! Have a great week!

Week #86

Hey Mis!

My week was pretty good. We had a couple lessons this week with the Merrill family. They're doing awesome! The mom and daughter came to church, and they loved it! The dad joined us for a lesson for the first time, which was awesome! He's not quite ready for church yet, but he's doing really well. We also got to do some service for the Merrills. We did some yard work and pulled weeds for them, it was cool to finally do service, cuz 99.99% of the time, people reject our offer for service.

Jordyn also passed her baptismal interview! We rescheduled her baptism for the 11th so some family could attend, so I'm pretty excited!

I went on a couple exchanges this week. One with Elder Kensinger, one with Elder Bissett. They were both interesting exchanges. I don't want to put too much negative in my email, but neither exchange was my favorite. It was a good learning experience though.

This coming week will be good with Jordyn's baptism, and we're also teaching Primary!! Which will be interesting haha.

Week #85

Hey Mis!

CONGRATS ON GRADUATING!!!! I'm bummed I missed it, but I was there in spirit. I'm super happy for you though!

My week was busy. We had interviews with President Snow. It was fun to sit down and talk with him. This was the most relaxed interview I had with him. It was interesting. I think part of it was that he was having a long day, and part of it is that he's almost done. Either way, it was cool to see that side of President!

I went on two exchanges this week. One was with Elder Beaumont, from South Carolina. He's a good guy, and we had a lot of fun and got a lot of work done! I also exchanged with Elder Gerloff. He used to be my zone leader back in the day, so it was interesting to see him in a role reversal haha.

As for the week, there was a youth fundraiser dinner and auction at the church. It was cool, because the YW's president got our investigators involved! Summer and Skye who we've been teaching helped cook and serve! And they LOVED it. It was a super cool activity. Jordyn is doing well too, she's getting baptized this Saturday! We're excited. Other than that, my week wasn't super eventful.

Have a great week!

Hey Mis!

That sounds like a fun week! That's awesome that you graduate this week! I wish I could make it! I don't have too much time today, but here's my week!

This week was pretty good! We had dinner with some members and investigators. It was a super cool lesson! Summer and Skye, our two Investigators, felt the Spirit super strong! It was awesome! We had a lesson with them later this week, and when we went into their house, we saw that they had a pet pig!!!! So I took a picture with it haha.

We also had some cool lessons with Jordyn this week! She's been doing awesome, she's getting baptized May 6th!

Have a great week! Love you Mis!

Week #83

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a busy week, that's cool that you're graduating soon. Sounds like a fun Easter weekend as well! My week was pretty good! It's been super busy with the new zone. Things have been super unorganized, so we've spent a lot of time getting things straightened out here for the Zone.

The area is cool. We have a teenage girl named Jordyn who should be getting baptized at the end of the month, other than her, we've had to focus a lot on finding more people to teach. The ward is good. Not super missionary-minded yet, but getting there!

I went on exchange with Elder Fordham this week in his area. He's from Indiana and has been out for a little over a year. We were on bike, and I loved it! I miss the bike life haha. We found a lot of awesome people to teach which was super cool. Elder Dodge and I also found a lot of people on Sunday with the Easter video! Easter was definitely super fun.

That was pretty much my week! Have a great week!

Week #82

Hey Mis!

This week has been super busy! I don't have a whole lot of time, but here's some info about my area:

It's a small area, but the ward seems pretty nice. There's a few people that have been taught that are progressing pretty well, but we definitely need to find some more people to teach too. UNLV's football stadium is in my area. My companion Elder Dodge, has been out three months less than me, and he's pretty cool. He's from Indiana. Nothing too crazy about my week honestly. There hasn't been much going on, so we definitely need to get the ball rolling for sure!

Have a great week! Sorry this is so short.

Week #81

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a tough week with your finger! I guess you can't catch a break... (see what I did there?) That's cool you went to your mission reunion! It's crazy, when I get home, it'll be about three years since you've returned. CRAZY.

This week was good. First off, transfer calls came, and........ I'm getting transferred. Elder Ramirez is staying here in Havasu, and I'm going to the Black Mountain/Green Valley zone! It'll be the second time I'm in that zone. I'll be in the South Valley Ranch ward in he Black Mountain stake, and I'll be with Elder Dodge. I've served around Elder Dodge before, so I'm excited!! And the funny thing is, I'm replacing Elder Hatch there. AND, Elder Hatch is replacing me here! We're switching spots! Haha. It'll be interesting. I'll get moved on Tuesday. It's also weird, because the sister missionaries I came out with are going home. It makes me said, cuz it seems like my mission is coming to an end too... :(

I loved Conference this weekend! I thoroughly enjoyed Elder Ballard's talk, about continually trying to improve and to not be complacent. That's kinda been the theme of my mission, I keep trying to improve, cuz I sure as heck have a lot to improve on! I also liked Elder Costa's talk on his conversion. It's so important that we do the little steps that lead to conversion, whether we're investigating the gospel, or if we're lifelong members of the Church. We had some cool visits with people this week. The Rails and the Kershaws are both doing really well! It's sad to be leaving the awesome people here, but I'm excited for what awaits in my next zone. Also, Elder Wightman, my trainer, is going to be in my zone!! And he's in Castle Ridge, which is one of the wards I covered in Green Valley! I'm super excited.

I hope you have a great week! Good luck with your surgery. Hopefully it'll be a quick fix!

Love ya Mis!

Week #80

Hey Mis!

Sounds like a pretty normal week haha. That's funny that you're first in your brackets. It's always fun surprising everyone haha. Make sure to talk it up even more! Haha. I did not hear about the shooting in Vegas by the Cosmopolitan... Glad I'm in Havasu!

This week was pretty good! We had Priscilla Koon get baptized! The Koon family wanted to keep it pretty low-key, so it was just us, the WML and his wife, the Koons and their visiting uncle, and two other families. It was pretty neat. At the end of the baptism, Priscilla wanted her brother to say the closing prayer. He's 15 and a member, but he hasn't gone to church in a long time. But, he said the closing prayer, and at the end of it, Priscilla ran up to him, gave him a big hug, and started crying. It was a super cool moment for their family. Slowly but surely, all of their family is coming back to church. All of them except for the brother came to church for Priscilla's confirmation. It was still cool to see Bro. Koon at church!

I also went on two exchanges this week. My first exchange was with Elder Latu in his area. He's a Tongan from Salt Lake. He's a goof! It was a really fun exchange. We saw some super cool miracles too, like two girls that they were teaching committed to a baptismal date! It was pretty neat to see. We had some good talks to about some leadership stuff. He's a good leader! He also talked about how he has a couple friends that are missionaries in the New York Rochester mission, so I told him I'd keep my eye out for them if I went to Palmyra after I got home haha.

I also exchanged with Elder Delos Santos in Golden Valley, which is just outside of Kingman. He's from the Philippines! He's been in the states for about 4 months. When he got to the states, he got sent to Paradise/East when I was zone leader there. We helped him move in, so I already knew him pretty well. It was fun! We saw a really cool miracle. We were looking for a less-active family, but we didn't have the complete address. So we started to knock on the houses and trailers in the general vicinity of where it should be. We knocked on one door, and this teenage guy answered. He looked about 15. We asked for the family, and he invited us in. We started talking to him and his brother, who was about 18, until his mom walked in. We sat down with them, and got to know them really well! We shared a brief message, and set up a time to come back. As we were leaving, the mom followed us outside. After the front door closed and we started walking away from the house, the mom started bawling. She then told us everything that had happened in her family. Her husband joined the Church a few years ago, and when he did, she felt that the members seemed indifferent about them, and that they even started to act a little rude after he was baptized. So, her and her family stopped going to church, since then, her 15 year old son was born, she had gotten divorced, and she was having some issues with her kids. She had been praying for help that day to Heavenly Father, and she said that right when she finished her prayer, we knocked on their door. She wanted her kids to be baptized, and she wanted us to come back. It was SUCH A COOL MIRACLE!! It bums me out that it happened in exchange, but hopefully the elders take the opportunity and run with it!

That was pretty much my week. I'm stoked for Conference!! This week is transfer calls, so we'll see what happens! I hope you have a great week!

Love ya Mis!
